Our Story
It all started in Berlin with…
a community-focused housing project called Happy Pigeons Coliving. Our goal? To bring people from diverse backgrounds together and tackle modern loneliness in our fast-growing cities. Seven years on, our flock has grown to about 40 residents and coworkers.
Over time, we’ve tackled multiple renovation projects—starting out traditionally but quickly shifting to natural materials. Owning and managing these buildings ourselves has shown us exactly what it means to be fully invested, from successes to setbacks.
Now, we’re looking beyond our own walls. By sharing our experience and know-how about eco-friendly construction, we hope to inspire others to embrace greener methods and create healthier, happier living spaces for everyone—because raising awareness of sustainable building is where we believe we can make the biggest environmental impact.
The journey of Happy Pigeons
2017 – Founded & First Coliving Apartment
It all started with our original apartment – self-designed with love for every detail. Second-hand furniture, handmade elements, and colorful DIY touches made it feel like home from day one.
2018 – Coworking Space
We opened up to the neighborhood: a space where international colivers and local Berliners could meet and connect. It was important to us not to become a floating bubble – but to be part of the Kiez.
2019 – The Colorful Nest
Our biggest renovation so far: 120 sqm, four rooms, built from scratch with bold colors and handcrafted wooden furniture. A vibrant home with soul.
2021 – HP Lab & Natural Nest
We founded the HP Lab and launched our first sustainable renovation project: the Natural Nest. Focused on ecological building, healthy materials, and minimal waste.
2022–2024 – Lab Projects: Clay Party & Natural Nest 2
With Clay Party, we explored natural materials in a playful way – with music, mud and community. In Natural Nest 2, we took our sustainable approach even further: smarter design, healthier materials.
2022–2024 – Self-Organized Coliving
Together with our community, we developed the tools and structure for a self-organized coliving space: digital platforms, shared roles, smart automations – and plenty of trust.
2025 – HP Lab starts Consultancy
We’re excited to launch our consultancy! From now on, we support others in creating ecological, healthy renovations – with hands-on experience and heart.
